Double P Ranch – South Dakota Hunting Guides

Captain Matthew Luttmann

I was born and raised in central Florida, and have been fishing and hunting my entire life. I got into the guide business about ten years ago, running fishing charters for largemouth bass, snook, tarpon, and redfish. Did that for about 5 years until I realized my passion was guiding hunts. I have been guiding deer, hog, duck, and turkey hunts ever since. Specializing in archery hunts, I have put many folks on their first and/or largest trophy deer, Osceola turkey, or boar hog via spot and stalk or ground blinds. My goal first and foremost is to make sure that everybody is having a good time and getting their opportunities at the experience of a lifetime. My GSP and pointing lab will be ready to get the birds! In the winter months both Jesse and I charter fishing excursions around the Tampa/Clearwater area.  Give us a call to schedule a day of fishing when in the area. You can reach me at (727) 744-8728.

Captain Jesse Terry

My passion for the outdoors started at a young age, as a kid growing up in south Florida. I have always loved hunting and fishing with friends and family back home but over the past few years I have become dedicated to guiding world-class hunting and fishing trips to clients around the country. I am a passionate bow hunter but I also love hunting waterfowl and upland birds. My two dogs, Max and Sophie, are pointing labs from local breeders here in South Dakota. They both love to hunt and we’re all very excited to get on some birds this season! In the winter you will find me charter fishing with Matt or hunting deer, hogs, and wild turkey.

Korey ‘Mongo’ Siltman

Born and raised in Northern Minnesota, I have been fishing and hunting since I was old enough to hold a rod and later, a gun. I have always been an outdoors enthusiast with a great love and respect for the outdoors and all it entails. I served in the US Army for 5 years, serving a tour in Iraq. Upon leaving the Army I decided to follow my dreams and I attended the Colorado outdoor adventure guide school, completing all courses offered including the African plains game professional hunters course. I am lucky enough to do something I love. I have 2 chocolate labs Max and Trigger who are well trained and will work a field until they drop. I love to see people I am guiding have a once in a lifetime experience and I will bend over backwards to make sure they do!!

Dewy Lerew

I am a native South Dakotan, where it seems that hunting and fishing are just a way of life from the start.  I’ve been hunting and fishing for almost 30+ years now and have traveled all over to pursue different species while meeting some great people along the way.

I enjoy guiding first time hunters and witnessing the pleasure on their faces as they get their first pheasant, deer, or even catch that first fish! Guiding seasoned hunters is a great ride to be on also, as their stories will have you laughing, or commiserating about “the one that got away”!

The bond that happens between guide and hunter leads for an amazing comradery that’s strengthened by reliving experiences of hunting and life at the end of the day.   I’m truly humbled and thankful for the opportunity here at Double P Ranch to have me on board with them and their great staff.

Late September marks the start of South Dakota waterfowl and whitetail archery hunting seasons.  Many of our ranch guests enjoy adding a waterfowl* or archery hunt to their visit.

South Dakota Archery Whitetail Hunting:  Double P Ranch has been offering archery whitetails for nearly two decades. Our goal has been to offer the highest quality archery hunt in South Dakota.  Dedicated archery-only areas, deer food plots and well placed blinds and stands are found throughout the ranch.  It’s best to contact us early if you are interested in adding a whitetail hunt during your visit, since this option is limited and has high demand.

*Archery tags in South Dakota are not restricted.  It is best to apply for a tag in September.  The SD Game and Fish will mail the tag to your residence.  You will need to have the tag in hand when you arrive at the ranch.  We will gladly help assist our guests in applying for special licenses.

South Dakota Waterfowl Hunting:  Our guests hunt both water and fields during the start of the season.  It is typical to shoot a mixed bag of duck species and a few geese during your visit at this time of the season.  Ducks commonly harvested during the beginning of the season include: wood ducks, mallards, green and blue wing teal, gadwalls, pintails, spoonbills, and widgeon. Canada geese are also common.

**To hunt waterfowl in South Dakota, our guests need to apply for the license by early July.  We recommend our guests apply for the 10-day non-resident waterfowl license for the best chance of a successful draw (75% success w/o preference point).
