The Prairie Pothole Region — North America's Duck Factory
Double P Ranch sits in the heart of South Dakota's Prairie Pothole region — one of the most productive waterfowl habitats on the continent. Our property encompasses over 100 wetlands that produce and attract thousands of resident and migratory waterfowl each fall.
Early season duck hunting at Double P Ranch means mixed-bag shooting at its finest. Ducks commonly harvested during early season include a wide variety of species alongside Canada geese. It's the most diverse waterfowl hunting of the year.
Important: To hunt waterfowl in South Dakota as a non-resident, you must apply for your license by July. We recommend applying for the 3-day or 10-day non-resident waterfowl license through the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks website for the best chance of a successful draw.
